About the event
The Pearly Spurtle – Festival of Porridge is Australia's first celebration of all things porridge, inspired by Scotland's famous Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships and the documentary The Golden Spurtle (now on Netflix).

Hosted by the Pearl Beach Progress Association (PBPA) in conjunction with the Pearly Spurtle Organising Committee, this volunteer-run festival will take place on Saturday 8 August 2026 at the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall.
Enjoy a day of porridge competitions, Scottish music and dancing, pipe bands, food, tastings and family-friendly activities.
Competitors will battle it out in both Traditional and Creative Porridge categories, with the Overall Champion winning a trip to Scotland to represent Australia at the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships. Think you make a great bowl of porridge? Register to compete now.
Profits from the event will support the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall.
