About the event

The Pearly Spurtle – Festival of Porridge is Australia's first celebration of all things porridge, inspired by Scotland's renowned Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships and the documentary The Golden Spurtle (now available on Netflix).

The Golden Spurtle has even made it to the big screen, view the film trailer here.

Hosted by the Pearl Beach Progress Association (PBPA) and the Pearly Spurtle Organising Committee, this volunteer-run festival combines the excitement of porridge competitions with Scottish music and dancing, pipe bands, free rum tastings and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Visitors can also enjoy hot butter rum, steaming bowls of porridge with an extensive toppings bar, and traditional bacon butties available for purchase.

Competitors will battle it out in both Traditional and Creative Porridge categories, with the overall champion winning a trip to Scotland to represent Australia at the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships.

Think you make a great bowl of porridge? Register to compete now and put your skills to the test.
