The Pearl Beach community recently recognised an extraordinary contribution to the local community, awarding Life Membership of the Pearl Beach Progress Association to Victoria Crawford in honour of her exceptional and sustained service.

Victoria and her husband Ian first became part of the Pearl Beach community in 1976, when they purchased their property and spent many years as weekenders and holiday visitors. From the 1980s, they became actively involved in community life, joining the Progress, Arboretum and Tennis Associations.

Before stepping into executive leadership, Victoria dedicated five years (2015–2020) to managing the much-loved Book Fair, with Ian’s support. Even after handing over coordination, she has continued to contribute by managing the back deck café — an effort appreciated by many locals and visitors alike.

Victoria formally joined the Progress Association Executive Committee in October 2019. By October 2020, she had taken on the significant responsibility of Hall Management Subcommittee Convenor, a role she continues to lead with dedication. Under her guidance, the hall has seen major improvements, including ceiling insulation and lining, interior painting, resealing of floors and deck, new guttering, air-conditioning installation, and upgraded coded locks. Future enhancements, including kitchen upgrades, are currently in review.

Her leadership extended well beyond infrastructure.

Between 2023 and 2025, Victoria led a comprehensive review of the Association’s constitution, followed by an update of operational guidelines and the introduction of a Code of Conduct — work that will benefit the organisation for years to come.

During a particularly challenging period in March 2024, following the resignation of a number of executive members, Victoria stepped up to lead the Association as both President and Treasurer for nine months. She continued to serve as Vice-President from October 2024 to October 2025, and once again took on financial responsibilities from August 2025 to February 2026 in the absence of a Treasurer.

Beyond governance, Victoria has also played a vital role in maintaining community connection. Since the closure of the café, she has worked tirelessly with external providers to ensure continued access to fresh coffee for the community — no small feat, and one deeply appreciated by residents.

Her service extends to the Arboretum Committee, where she has contributed since 2014, serving as Treasurer, President, Secretary, and now as a general committee member. Since 2019, she has also been a key coordinator of the joint Progress and Arboretum concerts, always working collaboratively to bring the community together.

Throughout all of this, Ian has been a constant and valued supporter.

Victoria’s unwavering commitment, leadership, and generosity of time represent a truly outstanding contribution to Pearl Beach. Her service exemplifies the very spirit of community, making her a most deserving recipient of Life Membership.
