Planned upgrade works for Pearl Beach–Patonga Fire Trail

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has advised the Pearl Beach Progress Association that repair and upgrade works are planned for the Pearl Beach–Patonga Fire Trail within Brisbane Water National Park.
The project is designed to repair erosion and surface damage, improve drainage and restore safe access for bushfire management, emergency response and park management.
Planned works are expected to include:
Repairing and resurfacing sections of the existing trail.
Minor widening where required.
Upgrading culverts and drainage infrastructure.
Installing erosion protection measures.
Limited vegetation removal where necessary.
Construction is currently expected to commence in late 2026 and may take up to six months to complete, subject to contractor appointment and final scheduling. During this period, temporary closures of the fire trail will be required to allow the works to be carried out safely.
NPWS will provide further information on construction timing, trail closures and access arrangements closer to the commencement of works through onsite signage and visitor alerts.
Community feedback requested
The Pearl Beach Progress Association has been invited to provide feedback to NPWS as part of the planning process. If you have any comments, concerns or local knowledge that may assist — particularly regarding access, community use of the trail or other matters that NPWS should consider — we encourage you to let us know.
Community feedback will be considered by NPWS as part of the Review of Environmental Factors for the project.
Please send any comments to the Pearl Beach Progress Association as soon as possible so they can be included in our response to NPWS.
