We're getting a beach front upgrade

Whilst it’s taken a little while, we are getting some traction from CCC to help improve the condition of our foreshore assets.

1. CCC are proposing to replace the ‘failing’ timber retaining wall that runs along the beach in front of the amenity block with ‘sandstone blocks’ The height of these blocks will broadly be the same as the existing timber wall. Some minor adjustments may be necessary to the alignment to ensure that the existing tree roots are not compromised. CCC will also consider whether any additional material can be imported to make up levels around the tree roots that are exposed!

It is anticipated that these works will be completed in November, subject to resources, however if not possible they would be deferred until March 26, when the beach is less busy.

2. The timber edgings around the play area have now been repaired/replaced.

3. New picnic tables have been installed. Unfortunately, the existing concrete bases which are not level have not rectified and sorry, the specification for the tables is standard across coast.

Finally, a massive thank you to Dune Care and the Pearl Beach Gardener’s for their help in maintaining and improving these areas.
