Pearl Beach RFS brigade and the Pearl Beach community were saddened by the passing of our Captain and friend, Lindsay Boyd.

Lindsay passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, suffering a stroke, whilst under anaesthetic in hospital.

Lindsay devoted nearly 30 years to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, including many years with Pearl Beach RFS as its Captain. He was a familiar, welcoming presence at Pearl Beach community gatherings, often speaking on fire safety at meetings and lunches with residents.

Within the brigade, he worked tirelessly on diversity, building a more inclusive culture, something he was deeply proud of. He took special pride in seeing our first all-female crew take out a truck on a recent operation. Many younger members saw him as a mentor and a father figure, someone who believed in them and helped them grow.

He will be remembered for encouraging people and bringing, not just the brigade, but the community together.

Lindsay was a force of nature, yet with a caring presence, always looking out for his fellow volunteers.

Lindsay was 74 years of age and is survived by his twin sons, Findlay and Austin.

He will be missed by family, friends, brigade and community.
